Whether you have notorious bore score (ticking noise/smoking), intermediate shaft (IMS) failure or crankshaft failure we have you covered. We also offer a bore scoping service to inspect the condition of the cylinder walls especially cylinders 4,5,6 as they are the most common failures. 

Here's what goes into our Water Cooled Porsche engine rebuilds,

  • The engine is stripped down to it's bare components 

  • All parts are cleaned from oil, foreign particles and carbon deposits removed 

  • All components are then checked for wear and tear and are compared to OE manufacture tolerances and replaced where necessary 

  • Engines 3.4L and bigger are well know for oval bore wear and bore score, due to the nikasil coating failing and picking up on the piston skirts. at this point bores are measured for ovality and new liners & pistons will be fitted (image top left) 

  • All new big end, main bearings, intermediate shaft bearing (or complete IMS shaft if needed), piston rings are used (pistons if required) 

  • We like to pin all IMS shafts as they use 3 pressed on gears that can slip causing timing chain like failures, here at Deutsch Auto Centre we like to eliminate this (images to right) 

  • The cylinder heads, valves, valve seats & guides are recut and or replaced where necessary, then reassembled with new valve stem oil seals and vacuum tested.

  • All engines are built with all new gaskets, seals, new casing bolts, timing chains and genuine sealants.

  • IMS bearing upgrades available upon request roller, ceramic or oil fed bearings (bottom right)
